Editorial Intern
New Internationalist Publications
New Internationalist is looking for a part-time intern to contribute to the North American edition of the magazine. The preferred candidate will be someone with a journalistic flair, an interest in global justice issues and the ability to work independently.
This paid position lasts for one-year beginning July 1, 2011.

Job Description
1. Period of internship and working hours
The internship will run for a calendar year, from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012. This is a part-time position (approximately 15 hours per issue, 10 issues during the year).
2. Description of work
The work, managed by one of our freelance editors based in Toronto, will focus on researching, writing and editing content for the Action section of the magazine including event listings and campaign news as well as sourcing photographs.
The intern will be expected to work from their own office and provide their own computer with internet access. The location is flexible but preference will be given to those applicants living in Toronto or Ottawa.
3. Pay
The intern will be paid the minimum wage plus 10% ($11.28/hour) based on the working hours indicated above. Any additional expenses such as long-distance phone calls will be reimbursed.
4. Review of work
Reviews will be carried out every three months with the editor and/or publisher. This is an opportunity for the intern to assess their work and to further develop their writing skills.
