CanCulture - unpaid

CanCulture is looking for non-paid contributors this summer in Toronto and Ottawa. We are a new online magazine highlighting local arts and culture in cities across Canada.

As a new publication, we aim to give many opportunities for young, emerging journalists to gain experience and get their work published. Our contributors work 5-10 hours a week and are expected to produce at least one story a week for a variety of sections, from art to books, fashion, film, food, music and theatre.

We are looking for students with a journalism, communications or radio and television arts background. Successful candidates should be committed, enthusiastic, and able to bring their own special twist to CanCulture. Those who apply should be familiar with the arts scene in Toronto or Ottawa, be tech savvy and willing to learn.

Written duties include short 400-word articles for our recurring Your City and Weekender features, event coverage and long-form feature pieces. Other opportunities such as managing our social media accounts, as well as assisting in the production of short YouTube videos and our weekly podcast are also available.

We’d love to see some samples of what you do, whether it’s your published writing samples, blog, photos or online portfolio. To apply, send your resume, cover letter, what sections you’d like to contribute to and a little bit about yourself to CanCulture‘s managing editors, Andrew Nguyen and Arik Ligeti, at internship@canculture.com before May 1, 2011.
