Editorial Intern, Allergic Living magazine
Allergic Living, the quarterly consumer magazine for people with allergies, asthma and celiac disease, is looking for an editorial intern.
Duties include researching stories, writing for print and the Web, posting stories to www.allergicliving.com, sourcing products and images, and fact-checking.
Interns have the opportunity to acquire published clips and work with a small team of experienced and passionate editors.
While the position is unpaid, the candidate will be paid a per-word rate for any stories that appear in the magazine. Additionally, a stipend will be available to offset transportation costs from within Toronto to our offices in west Toronto (Bloor & Jane area, a short walk from the subway).
The intern will work three full days per week for a four-month period.
The candidate should possess a journalism degree (or a Bachlor’s degree with some journalism experience) or be working towards a degree in journalism. He or she has exceptional writing skills and a strong interest in health writing. Knowledge of or experience with allergies, asthma or celiac disease would be a huge plus, as would familiarity with the WordPress online publishing platform.
Interested candidates, please email your resume and a cover letter to kim@allergicliving.com. Put “Internship” in the subject line. Applications are due April 11, 2011.
We thank all applicants but only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
