COC Overview

The Canadian Olympic Committee is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to sport excellence. It is responsible for all aspects of Canada's involvement in the Olympic Movement, including Canada's participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games and a wide variety of programs that promote the Olympic Movement in Canada through cultural and educational means.

Internship Description

The Communications department at the Canadian Olympic Committee is seeking an individual to help with media and public relations programs and initiatives in the summer of 2011 as the COC prepares for events such as the Guadalajara 2011 Pan American Games. This internship is a non-paid position.

Location

This internship will be placed at the COC Toronto Office at: 21 St. Clair Ave. E, Suite 900, Toronto, ON M4T 1W4

Timing

Summer 2011 (May - August)

Tasks and Responsibilities

The COC Communications Intern would assist the Communications Department with various tasks. Some of these responsibilities will include:

- Media monitoring – Compiling daily press clippings for COC staff and partners.
- Media Guide support – Assist in compiling statistical information, biographies and photographs for the 2011 Canadian Pan American Team.
- Writing – Occasional written projects for www.olympic.ca, as well as the COC Facebook and Twitter pages.
- Website content management – Assist in site maintenance, which would include but not be limited to: posting photos, captions, news releases and features, monitoring user-generated content, polls, etc.
- Education department support – Occasional tasks relating to the Canadian Olympic School Program.
- General administrative support for Communications team
