INTERNSHIP OFFER: JOURNALISM EXPERIENCE IN THE REGIONS OF QUÉBEC MARITIME
Location: Québec maritime
Regions: Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie, Îles de la Madeleine and Côte-Nord (Manicouagan and Duplessis)
Duration: June 6 to July 17 (including a week of preparation before June 13 departure)
Are you ready for a unique experience this summer? This internship will give you the opportunity to enjoy the summer, participate in exciting adventures, learn and discover some of the most beautiful attractions in Québec maritime while applying your academic training.
We are currently looking for a journalism student, accompanied by a guest of his choice, ready to go on a five-week road trip adventure this summer. Your experience will be filled with nature explorations, culture, great people, amazing food and plenty of adventures. You’ll be taking learning outside the classroom and taking photos, making videos and feeding our various social media platforms.
• Discover the tourist attractions and activities of the regions in Quebec maritime during a five-week road trip adventure
Responsibilities
• Build your trip and create your own itinerary
• Go on a whale-watching excursion, camp in national parks, jump in a kayak and paddle around islands and much more
• Share your favourites and discoveries on a daily basis, in a entertaining and informative way, through interactive platforms (blog, Facebook, Twitter)
• Produce high-quality photos and videos
• Produce a logbook summarizing the various activities on your road trip
• Produce a feature article (with pictures and articles) summarizing your five-week trip
• Submit a final report
• Enrolled in journalism at a university in Ontario or the Maritime provinces
Qualifications
• Professional experience in journalism an asset
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Perfect mastery of English, knowledge of French an asset
• Strong technical skills in photography and video
• Good knowledge of social networks and the Internet
• Available between June 6 and July 17, 2011
• A laptop with the programs required to edit photos and videos (for example, for Mac: The Gimp, Final Cut Express or Studio and for PC: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Première)
• Valid driving license
• At least 18 years old
• Curious, creative, adventurous
• Good people skills
• Independent and adaptable
• All-inclusive road trip adventure including access to a car, activities, accommodation and meals for two people
