SUMMER REPORTING INTERN
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:
We look for reporters with a keen sense for news, an eagerness to break stories and a clean, clear writing style. Our interns quickly immerse themselves in assignments, thoroughly researching and reporting news and feature stories to daily deadlines. We demand they be enterprising and dig up stories on their own. We are seeking team players who are equally at ease working independently.
Our summer internships begin in May and run until the end of August. Standard hours of work is 37.5 hours, however there may be times when you will be required to work additional hours during evenings/holidays or other times.
Internships start at $450 per week depending on experience.
Summer interns will be eligible to apply for our full-year internships, which begin in September.
IF YOU HAVE:
University or college-level studies in journalism or related education
Demonstrated ability to work independently in setting priorities, meeting deadlines and following up on assignments
Top-notch communication and organizational skills
Computer skills
A valid driver's license
Access to a reliable vehicle (required only for certain placements)
Photojournalism experience and bilingualism are considered definite assets
Previous newspaper experience is required to be considered for placement with a daily publication.
