Transcontinental Media publishes specialty magazines for targeted markets, particularly focusing on home and shelter, business and industrial news, sports and lifestyles.
More, Canada’s magazine celebrating women over 40, is looking for a fact checking intern seeking practical experience working for a busy publication. This internship is set to begin January 5, 2010, for a three-month period, four days/week. The internship is unpaid, but a nominal honorarium is offered.
Responsibilities include:
- fact checking stories
- research for various story concepts and sidebars
Education: working toward completion of a degree in Journalism or Magazine Publishing, or recent graduate
Experience: some writing and fact checking experience
Knowledge: an interest in health and women’s issues is an asset
Competencies: positive attitude, willingness to learn, strong research skills
