The Gazette in Montreal - paid, summer internship

Applications for summer 2009 internships
At the Gazette in Montreal

The Gazette runs a 12-to-16 week paid summer internship program for reporters and copy editors, hiring between four and six students to work between late May and Labour Day. We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic candidates for the 2010 program who aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and experience the front lines of daily newspaper and online journalism.

Applicants must be enrolled in a university-level program during the current academic year to be eligible. Students who apply must send a resume, up to five clippings and a cover letter explaining why they want to work at The Gazette and what they would like to do (reporter/copy editor; print/online). Applicants must be fully bilingual because the majority of activities they will cover in Montreal will be in French, but their stories will be written in English. They must also have a valid driver’s licence.

The deadline for application is Dec. 18, 2009.

Interviews with chosen candidates will be set up for the beginning of January 2010 at certain schools. Where that is not possible, phone interviews will be done or people will be given appointments at The Gazette.
