CALL FOR NOTE-TAKERS for the CANADIAN MUSEUM FOR HUMAN RIGHTS’ Public Roundtable Discussion
When: Tuesday, December 1st 2009, 6:00-9pm (event commences at 7pm)
Where: Room 202B, North Building, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front Street West, Toronto.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is a ground-breaking national museum, due to open in Winnipeg in 2012. The Content Advisory Committee for this new museum is currently visiting 18 cities across Canada for its national story-gathering tour. We are holding public round-table meetings where we invite a range of individuals and groups to meet with us and share their human rights-related stories, experiences and perspectives. The feedback, suggestions and stories that we gather from these roundtable discussions will inform the exhibitions of this new museum.

We are looking for students with experience taking notes, who can bring their own laptops to this roundtable event. Each note-taker will be paired with a facilitator, and will be required to record the conversation of a small group of 7-9 people during the course of the evening. While verbatim reporting is not expected, detailed and accurate recording of each person’s contribution to the discussion is very important. Accuracy and speed in typing are definite assets. Note-takers are also expected to be personable and friendly. Note-takers will be provided in advance with a Word template to be used.
