Urban Music Publication - unpaid

Looking for: Journalists/Marketing & Promotional Team [for soon-to-be launched website/blog and online magazine]

Pay: Volunteer - However, there will be an opportunity for staff to make money through selling promotional packages, sponsorship packages and advertisement space.

Expected hours per-week: 5 [or less]

Duties of the job: Will be to write articles for website and online publication. Journalists may be asked to conduct in-person interviews, phone interviews, and filmed interviews on location at events, music video shoots and more. Journalists will also be encouraged to sell promotional packages to artists, sponsorship packages to record labels, tattoo parlors, fashion boutiques, etc and advertisement space to all of the above.

Skills and Experience of a successful candidate: Interest in the entertainment industry, especially urban music and fashion. Studying towards a degree in Journalism or towards a career in the entertainment feild. Candidates must be able to produce eye-catching articles, feel comfortable conducting interviews and be able to remain professional on-set of music videos and industry-related events.

About project: BENT [B-Entertained] Magazine is an up-and-coming website/blog and online magazine that is due to launch it's first issue early November with an over-load of Canadian talent, International features, Fashion, Tattoos and more! With a passion for the music, culture, politics and fashion surrounding the urban music scene, BENT will cover hip-hop news world-wide with a focus on the budding hip-hop scene in Toronto. From featured audio and video, to frequent blog updates and an online publication, BENT Magazine will keep you up-to-date with the ever-changing music industry and will continue to shed light on the undeniable talent sprouting from Canadian soil.

Editor/Owner: Has experience working as an intern and fill-in producer for the Morning Show at Toronto's #1 Station for Hip-hop and R&B Flow 93.5. I currently write for six urban-music publications, and work as a publicist for an Artist Development Agency and for one of Toronto's hottest hip-hop artists. This project is going to shift a lot of my focus and dedication and I hope to develop a strong team to grow with the publication's success.
