Transcontinental Media publishes specialty magazines for targeted markets, particularly focusing on home and shelter, business and industrial news, sports and lifestyles.
More magazine is looking for a fact checking intern seeking practical experience working for a busy magazine. This internship is set to begin December 6, 2010. Internships run for three months (can be longer), ideally with a four-days-a-week commitment. Internships are unpaid, but a nominal honorarium is offered.
Responsibilities could include:
- fact-checking stories
- research for various story concepts and sidebars
Education: working toward completion of a degree in Journalism or Magazine Publishing, or recent graduate
Experience: some fact-checking experience is required
Knowledge: an interest in health and women’s issues is an asset
Competencies: positive attitude, willingness to learn, strong research skills and
attention to detail
