Internship Program
May-August 2012
The Vancouver Sun is seeking applications for its summer 2012 internship program.
This four-month program runs from May 1 to August 31. Interns report to the city editor, filing breaking news stories and video on deadline, in print and online.
Newsroom interns are highly motivated, enterprising reports who are adept at all aspects of online newsgathering. Successful applicants will have proven skills writing and posting stories to the web, shooting and editing video, and using social media.
Our interns quickly assume considerable responsibility in the newsroom and must be deadline-oriented, efficient, hard working reporters with sound news judgment. They must be able to variously take on investigative work, features, or breaking news.
Local knowledge and language proficiency in Punjabi, Cantonese or Mandarin are assets, but not required. Preferred candidates will have some previous experience at a daily or weekly newspaper or website.
This full-time position involves evening and weekend work with variable hours and non-consecutive days off.
