Duties of the job:
Interview local trendsetters for this online Toronto webzine (bands, designers, etc.). Write up articles and submit them to the Editor for review. Each intern will receive full credit for their published works and constructive feedback to help improve their skills.
Skills and experience expected of a successful candidate:
Must be a writer or journalist student. Must be prepared to work fast.
A brief word about the project:
Unlike other media, which try to reach every demographic possible, Mushy Pony is unabashedly geared toward the twenty-something (give or take a few years) — this means that when we write about a concert, it won’t be a Michael BublĂ© one; and if our resident veterinarian (a local G.P.) writes about a health issue, it will probably be where to get free condoms rather than how to prevent heart disease.
In our many feature interviews, we speak to the young folks that truly create the pulse of this city: MTV’s Dan Levy, Yuk Yuk's Eddie Della Siepe, schmooze king Shinan Govani and more. There are even recipes — not for moms who bake their own sourdough bread every weekend, but for students who can’t cook — and that’s just the beginning.
Toronto may have its share of blogs already, but Mushy Pony taps into a segment of the city’s population who are young, smart, edgy and about to take over the reins.
