Proofreader/Copy Editor Job Description
Eat Smart Age Smart is a site devoted to healthy eating.
My name is Krizia and as the founder and CEO of this online platform, I’m looking to expand the brand by launching a new online membership program that will require regular content editing/proofreading.
I will need the help of a fully trained and experienced proofreader/editor for the content that will be posted to the membership on a monthly base. There will be a series of lessons delivered weekly and all lessons will require copy editing.
In such, I’m looking for a freelancer who is creative and talented at copy editing and who has a good portfolio.

Proofreader/Copy Editor Job Description:
1) Re-read original copy I send to detect any errors.
2) Proofread to detect and correct any grammatical, typographical, or compositional errors.
3) Correct any mistakes while clearly marking the corrected content (this allows me to make sure my ideas are clear and this might be as simple as correcting all copy in a different colour font than black). It’s not necessary to submit corrections with the track change function as long as all corrected copy appears in a different colour font.
4) Fact checking – double check on any content that is unclear to make sure the information is accurate.
Job description summary:
* Essentially, you will ensure that copy due for publication is well written, grammatically correct and accessible (aka language is clear and easy to understand).
* You’ll also be required to maintain style consistency and in some cases, you might also need to undertake significant rewriting (copy editing) if that is necessary to maintain high standards of quality.
It is essential that you possess the following skills:
* You must have a University degree (a focus on journalism would be ideal).
* You must have excellent proofreading, grammar, and editing skills.
* Tremendous attention to detail is needed to ensure quality.
* You must have done the work of proofreading and editing in the past.
* Deliver work on time and respects commitments
* Actively communicate any questions about the work
* Excellent knowledge or MS Word
Additionally:
* Experience with the health/nutrition industry is a plus.
* It’s essential that you provide work samples.
Compensation and hours per week
* This is a per project job and right now, it’s difficult to determine the number of hours needed. This will not be a full time position, which will allow not interfere with the student’s school work.
* As a ballpark figure, this position would represent 10-20 hours of work per month
* This is a paid position ($10/hr)
