More summer internship - unpaid

Transcontinental Media—More Magazine
Location: Yonge and Sheppard (Toronto)
Internship Start Date: Mid-May 2010
Interviews to be held: Early April 2010

Transcontinental Media publishes specialty magazines for targeted markets, particularly focusing on home and shelter, business and industrial news, sports and lifestyles.

More magazine is looking for a fact checking intern seeking practical experience working for a busy magazine. This internship is set to begin mid-May 2010.

Internships usually run for three months (can be longer) with flexible hours.

Internships are unpaid, but a nominal honorarium is offered.

Responsibilities could include:
- fact-checking stories
- research for various story concepts and sidebars
- writing sidebars

Education: working toward completion of a degree in Journalism or Magazine Publishing, or recent graduate

Experience: some fact-checking experience

Knowledge: an interest in health and women’s issues is an asset

Competencies: positive attitude, willingness to learn, strong research skills
