Company: iObject
Position: Content Writer – Internship
Experience Required: Current student at University (preferably).
Company description:
iObject is a brand new social media company launching in the summer of 2010. Think of us as YouTube's younger, more rebellious twin - we are a medium specifically dedicated to encouraging the world to expose acts of injustice and ignorance. Deceitful politicians; faulty iPhone user-interface designs; commentary on strange social patterns; it's all fair game. This site isn't for one-liner comments and responses. It isn't for shameless bashing of ideas. It is for true, well thought-out opinions that have real mental “meat” backing them up. If you're looking to get experience in online media, journalism, video editing or online community management – iObject is a great start.
Job Description:
Our writers receive a weekly list of topics with specific keywords (to be included in their material), as well as the research to make the content extra thought-provoking. That being said, if you come up with a really great idea on your own, you're free to write about that as well! As long as the content is compelling, well-written and factual ... we have no complaints. We expect approximately 2 - 5 well written, well researched articles per week.
Benefits:
By the end of your working term with us, you'll not only have great experience with creating compelling online content – you'll have a solid understanding of what it takes to start, build and fully automate an online media company (including ad-revenue strategy development). We'll give you all of our tips and tricks, write you a recommendation for your work, and even help you establish professional connections with the industry.
Commitment:
Part-time: Approximately 8 hours per week and one 3-hour meeting per month. Students that do not live in Toronto have the option of having a Skype conference (although you'll be missing out on our monthly dinner meetings).
Working conditions:
Remote. Work from home, school or even Starbucks. All we ask is that you check your email every day, respond within 24 hours and meet your deadlines. Beyond that, you're literally your own boss.
