Online editorial intern opportunity
Work term: September 2009 to open

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship with the opportunity for a potentially paid future freelance writing position with the publication. The subject matter will be high profile as you will be working alongside prominent figures and will be a great showcase for the portfolio, experience and professional exposure.
Minimum hour requirement: This position will require 10-20 hours a week
Job description:
We are currently looking for passionate and creative writers who are looking to enhance their skills, gain exposure and establish an online presence in the field of environmentally conscious and healthy living.
This is a very exciting time to be a part of this movement. A lot is happening in the green sector and we are working very hard to be a leader for providing information of quality and targeting people, places and products that are unique, modern and a leaders that are shaping the industry. Our goal is to market to the North American demographic, eventually reaching further into international territories. The site will be launching this fall and we are looking forward to building a strong team of writers that will compliment our vision. Think of our site as an online magazine. If you want to write editorial, and everything sounds good so far, this may be the role for you!
Responsibilities may include (depending on qualifications):
- Researching latest trends, businesses and individuals on the fore-front of the environmental movement
- Writing in-depth, emotional high-quality editorials
- Be able to work with professional photographers in outlining the story theme prior to shoot
- Writing short, fun facts about relevant topics
Areas of interest include:
Green Homes
- Modern architecture, interior design, home renovations and urban planning
Transportation
– Cutting edge automotive innovations, eco-travel and accommodations and other forms of transportation
Science
- Biomimicry, breaking technology, enviro-science and electronics
Mind & Body
- Beauty care, organic foods, recipes, holistic medicine and active living.
Fashion & Culture
- Cutting edge eco-fashion, art, books and events
Skill requirements
- Currently completing (or completed) undergraduate degree in English, communications or journalism is preferred.
- Preferably have interest in the environment and/or healthy living.
- Must have a flawless understanding of grammar, spelling and the English language.
- The ability to conduct interviews over the phone and/or in person in a professional manor.
- Must be a creative thinker, self-motivated and problem solver.
- Must have strong researching skills and interest in current events.
- Must be able to pitch ideas to be accepted before editorial process begins.
- Must have excellent organizational skill and deliver all projects on time.
- Must be comfortable posting stories to the site though CMS. If you don’t know, we can teach you. It’s very easy.
- Be able to work within the guidelines of writing style guide.
- Must be a able to work well in a team environment and bring positive energy to the tasks at hand
