INTERNSHIPS
REPORTER & PHOTOGRAPHER
Metroland Media Toronto has paid internship opportunities for a reporter and a photographer starting in June 2014 for students currently pursuing a journalism degree or diploma. We’re looking for individuals who can meet the demands and challenges of a fast-paced newsroom that produces nine community newspapers, several monthly products and a news website.
The successful reporter candidate will:
- have experience with news writing, interviewing and contributing to a variety of news products print and online, preferred;
- be able to write clearly and concisely;
- be proficient with text editing software such as Adobe InCopy or Microsoft Word;
The successful photographer candidate will:
- have experience with digital SLR and using a variety of lenses;
- be able to take compelling, quality news and feature photographs;
- be proficient with photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.
Candidates will be creative, energetic and hardworking team players who can work efficiently to deadline. They should be able to present themselves professionally when working in the community and be able to travel within Toronto and work from the field. There may be occasional evening and weekend work.
Assets that are not required, but are valued include: a familiarity with Toronto and its neighborhoods, a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
