Position: Campus Health Communicator
Hours per week: 10-15 hours per week
Hourly Rate of Pay: $11

Winter Start Date: Jan 12th 2015
Winter End Date: April 9th 2015
Mandatory orientation August 26-28 2014 from 10am-2pm all days and January Refresher 1 full day TBD

Ryerson’s Health Promotion Department is a group of peer health promoters dedicated to promoting health and well-being of Ryerson University students. Our vision is for a university community that is fully committed and engaged in developing and sustaining supportive environments that foster health and academic success. To fulfil this vision we:
Inform – provide current and relevant information to the Ryerson University community that will allow for better health related decision making and actions
Build Capacity – Strategically develop the skills of leaders, contribute to policy development, develop evidence informed material and facilitate continued professional development to increase uptake of Health Promotion, health knowledge that can be used for decision making and actions
Support/Consult – provide high quality support to the Ryerson University community in relation to health and Health Promotion practices. Serve as a consultant.
Key responsibilities:
manage social media campaigns on FB, WordPress, Twitter, and other platforms
create engaging heath communications and postings (Facebook, Blog, Twitter) for the Ryerson Community
increase campus engagement with our social media platforms
develop & manage comprehensive social media calendar
monitor brand-related social media chatter and respond in a timely manner to ensure and maintain positive messaging
presenting a summary analysis of the impact of most of our social media activities and deliver key insights to the Health Promotion Coordinator
Key requirements:
a strong understanding of social media in all its guises (knowledge of marketing a bonus!)
great writing skills (engaging and persuasive rhetorical flair, and can tailor content to variety of media)
strong communication skills (written and verbal), organization, detail-orientation, and multitasking
self-motivated; comfortable working on your own while remaining part of a team
able to take initiative, but accepting of feedback and guidance

Qualifications
Students must qualify for work-study
Social media or journalism experience an asset
Ability to learn quickly and use knowledge to educate others
Strong organizational and problem solving skills
Knowledge of Facebook, Wordpress, Twitter, Hootsuite and any analytics tool
