Video Journalist – (3 month Summer Term)

Reporting to the District Manager, the Video Journalist will have a strong communication, technical and editorial background coupled with a passion for storytelling. As a representative of Eastlink TV, the Video Journalist will be an active community member ensuring programs produced are relevant to local audience. Thorough, organized and driven to take ownership and accountability for their work, the successful candidate will have the skills to work effectively in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities:
·      Develop news story ideas and assist in producing them to their conclusion.
·      Coordinate, shoot, and edit production and ensure consistent compliance with company polices procedures and standards.
·      Co-ordinate and develop efficiencies that will allow maximum output.
·      Foster positive working relationships within the programming department as well as with volunteers, other company. departments, media partners, community leaders, local organizations, and elected officials.
·      Meet all legal and policy requirements under the Health and Safety Act.
·      Adhere to generally accepted journalism practices and standards.
·      Comply with CRTC regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:
·      Presently enrolled in 2nd or 3rd year of a college or university broadcast journalism program.
·      Experience in shooting ENG production.
·      Experience with non-linear editing, preferably AVID.
·      A valid Ontario driver’s license with good driving record.
·      Ability work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
·      Frequently required to lift heavy objects (e.g. 10 kilos).
