“The Observer internship is one of the best opportunities in Canada for a new magazine journalist. I had the chance to write regularly, edit the work of others, manage the magazine’s social media and even do some travelling. I left with sharper writing skills, great clippings and fond memories.”
—Samantha Rideout, assistant editor at Reader’s Digest in Montreal, Concordia graduate and The Observer’s 2010 intern
“What’s great about The Observer internship is that it’s a crash course in working at a small magazine. What’s best about it, though, is how supportive and helpful staff members are, and how dedicated they are to your getting the most out of your experience.”
—Cory Ruf, Ryerson master of journalism graduate and The Observer’s 2011 intern

“It’s exactly what an internship is supposed to be: you’re part of the team, learning how to put together a great magazine. You’re not left out of anything, responsibilities included. The atmosphere is supportive and intellectually rigorous — something other editors and journalists know too. I feel lucky to have that great reputation on my resumé.
