Calgary Herald

Summer Internships
Multimedia reporters

DEPARTMENT:  Editorial

The Calgary Herald is seeking three summer reporters — fully-multimedia journalists who can help us lead the local news agenda through hard work, a clear understanding of complex issues, creativity, and strong writing.
Along the way, you’ll get a chance to dress up in some jeans and western duds to cover the Calgary Stampede, write and shoot video on the unique issues facing our young, fast-paced city, and perhaps experience a flood or hailstorm -- or both.
While we certainly can’t forecast Calgary’s weather for this summer, we can predict accurately that you will get a fantastic opportunity to help us deliver award-winning, innovative approaches to journalism across four platforms: Web, Tablet, Smartphone and Print.
We expect all internship applicants to have at least two years of top-notch journalism training, demonstrate that they can write first-rate copy, and have the ability to shoot and edit video. Knowledge of Wordpress and posting to the Web will be considered assets.
Knowledge of Calgary and southern Alberta is preferable, but not mandatory.
Enthusiasm, and the ability to generate creative ideas and storytelling, are mandatory.
These paid internships begin May 1 and end Aug. 31.
If this sounds like a summer adventure in the West you want to join, please email your resume and samples of published work to: hr@calgaryherald.com.
