Intern Reporter The StarPhoenix Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Posted: February 2, 2015 Deadline: February 20, 2015 Description The StarPhoenix has evolved into a multi-platform media powerhouse, providing content to readers where they want it, how they want it. Across print, web, smartphone and tablet, our audience is bigger than it has ever been before. Currently, we are seeking an Intern Reporter. The successful applicant will be a digital first journalist who is looking to hone their reporting skills and contribute across all four of The StarPhoenix’s platforms by providing quality content and through utilizing social media, video and other tools.  Primary Responsibilities: General reporting duties, including interviewing, researching story leads, and editing content; Generating strong editorial content; Collaborating with reporters and attending editorial meetings; Monitoring and posting to social networks, including Twitter and Facebook; Various photography and video assignments as required. Competencies: The ability to productively work in a team environment, as well as the ability to work independently when required; A capacity to exercise sound journalistic judgment under pressure and on tight deadlines; An enthusiastic work ethic, proactive approach and the ability to embrace and adapt quickly to change; Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content. Qualifications Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary Journalism program at an accredited university or college with a minimum of two years of coursework completed; Knowledge and experience using social networks such as Facebook and Twitter; Must be willing to work some nights and weekends as required.
