NON-SCRIPTED TV DEVELOPMENT & CASTING INTERN (PAID) CALL TO APPLICANTS
Muse Entertainment‘s Factual division in Toronto is seeking a Non-scripted TV Development & Casting Intern. We are looking for a highly outgoing and motivated individual who has a keen interest in the television business and the development of non-scripted series. Through this opportunity you will be able to gain valuable insight into the TV industry by working for one of Canada’s most prolific production companies.
This is a contract position paid $11.50/hour over a 3-month period with the possibility for extension. The position is available immediately and will range from 3-5 days/week based on need, between Monday to Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm.
The ideal candidate has a flexible schedule, is highly outgoing, people oriented, and friendly. They should not be afraid to make cold calls, know the right questions to ask in an interview, and be able to make friends with people quickly.
The intern’s responsibilities will include conducting interviews with potential cast for reality series by phone, Skype, and in-person, daily scanning of magazines, conducting detailed research, making contacts with potential talent through social networks, making cold calls, general administrative tasks, and assisting the producers, management, and development team as required. The intern’s primary goal will be to spot interesting characters, trends, and sub-cultures that a reality series could be shaped around.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
-Currently pursuing or recently acquired a degree in journalism, communications, television, or film.
-A very outgoing person who loves talking to people and networking online, in-person, and on the phone.
-A keen eye for unique and interesting characters, professions, sub-cultures, trends, and worlds.
-Excellent research and analytical skills with a naturally inquisitive personality.
-Experience conducting interviews with people from all walks of life.
-Experience within an office environment and an ability to work effectively with a team.
-Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
-A passion for non-scripted TV (yes, you must WATCH REALITY TV!), and a keen understanding of the television landscape overall.
-A genuine ambition to work within the industry.
-Focused and detail orientated.
-A positive, go-getter attitude.
Our Internship is most suited for someone looking to break into a career in non-scripted TV development, talent management, casting, or producing. They will be guided through a birds-eye-view of the development process, and there is large potential for growth.
