magazine is looking for a web editor. This is a part-time position of approximately 10 hours
per week working from home for a four-month term, with occasional team meetings.
Deadline for application: February 28, 2014.
About you:
You have some writing/blogging/editing experience, you like bikes and you are
willing to learn and have the ability to focus your attention on details. The
ideal candidate would also have another job, and have experience working two
part-time jobs at the same time.
The web editor will produce approximately
one or two self-generated stories per month (including in total at least two Bike
Spotting sessions over four months)
PLUS copyedit and upload one or two stories per week from other contributors.
We work in WordPress. Training and style guide are provided. You will be
working with other editors, photographers and contributors.
Leads, story ideas, interview
contacts, writer, photographer and illustrator contacts for self-generated
stories also provided. Pitches ALWAYS welcome!
The stipend is $200.
You will:
- Gain experience editing
copy and producing digital content for a magazine,
- Participate in marketing
campaigns and events for the magazine,
- Help increase positive bike
culture, especially in Toronto!
- Get first dibs on a
masthead position for our summer 2014 issue.
Other duties:
NEWSLETTER – one editor will be responsible for this simple
monthly aggregate or ‘round up’ of dandy stories from the web and promotions (includes
at least one partner/external story). Done
in MailChimp.
SOCIAL MEDIA: The web editors execute social media regularly,
according to dandy guidelines. Every story we produce must be posted to
Facebook and must be Tweeted twice and is the responsibility of the editor who
uploaded that story.
