Position: Online and Social Media Coordinator
Paid: $15 hr/ 30 hrs week/ 6 weeks

Canadian Crossroads International is an international development agency that engages volunteers to advance the rights of women and reduce poverty in Africa and Bolivia. Crossroads is recruiting an enthusiastic Online and Social Media Coordinator to support its online communications and public engagement programs. The intern is a skilled writer and brings direct experience using social media and knowledge of HTML. This position will provide relevant work experience for students looking to pursue careers in communications or journalism.
Tasks and responsibilities
The Online and Social Media Coordinator will:
· Research and write blogs, posts, releases and profiles for online media
· Research and support online or Toronto-based events to engage volunteers and Canadians in international development issues
· Create interactive content to increase engagement in international development issues
· Conduct web site updates
· Provide regular posts and responses to online communities including articles, photos, video, podcast, volunteer postings
· Support production of online newsletter (ebulletin)
· Conduct and/or transcribe interviews with volunteers, program staff, program partners and alumni for CCI’s online publications
· Monitor benchmarks and update statistics to measure performance
· Develop media lists and supports media relations program as required
Qualifications
· Pursuing degree in journalism, public relations, communications or marketing
· Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
· Active user of social media and experience with other online media
· Proficiency using HTML and design software
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Ability to work independently as part of a team
· Video or audio editing skills an asset
· Experience in or interest in international development
· Written and oral French language skills, and Spanish are assets
