Shalomlife.com is an online portal for the Jewish demographic of Canada. It’s content is secular, edgy, informative and at times cheeky. The internship at Shalomlife.com will provide a wonderful learning environment filled with opportunities to conduct interviews, attend events within the city and more.
The internship would involve the following challenges:
• Sourcing appropriate content for our daily news briefs section on the home page.
• Editing content.
• Applying the content with appropriate images or graphics that compliment the story.
• Marketing each article through our integrated media protocol.
• Preparing news briefs for the following morning post.
• Maintaining the guides/events in the Culture section weekly.
• Unearthing interesting and informative stories daily.
Skills Required:
• Strong editorial and research skills.
• Knowledge/experience of social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, Digg etc.
• Firm grasp of Canadian Press style guide.
• Working knowledge of Photoshop to resize images when needed.
• Capacity to work effectively within a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Our ideal candidate would possess:
• Is a hard working, charismatic individual with a keen interest in news/economy and or culture.
• Online savvy to unearth interesting stories.
• Works well under pressure and can meet deadlines.
• Able to attend events from time to time.
• Good knowledge of the web and the current state of online worldwide.
• A keen observer who is aware of the ‘goings on’ in our world today.
The ideal candidate(s) will benefit from a truly hands on experience…no filing for our interns. You will be an integral part of the writing team.
