CBM is dedicated to help Canada embrace their rich basketball culture and expose Canadian players to scouts down south and in European leagues. There are approximately 100 Canadian players that are on full scholarship to Division 1 major NCAA teams such as; Gonzaga, Marquette, Texas, Northeastern and so on. There are many hidden gems that still need to be seen by the world and it is our job to give them light to shine.
CBM will be a media outlet that will have our own website, radio broadcasts, magazine, and in the future, a television station. We will cover the sport on numerous levels such as; national teams, high school, university, college and professional. From our experience in this business thus far, we have built a contact list of over 1000 vital contributors, partners, and coaches. The remaining factor that will lead to success team is a growing team of writers, photographers and graphic designers who are passionate, creative and loyal.
To those who are interested in this opportunity that could be made into a career, please reply by submitting name, school, program, and the position which they are seeking, along with at least one piece of their work and a resume. After you've done this we ask that you be patient as there is a process to go through in order to begin hiring staff. There are submissions being sent in from all over the nation. There will be a few people hired from each province.
Although it is an unpaid internship, those who are selected as interns will be competing with others across Canada for a chance to be hired and paid, based on their commitment and quality of their work. As an intern one will gain experience in their field and also add valuable contacts to their contact list. Interns should have a great understanding of the game, and the ability to scout players, cover game recaps, and provide team analysis, for two semesters. The beauty of the position, if chosen, is that it will not take away from the time needed for academics. Anywhere between 5-10 hours a week will be more than enough time to complete a story.
I hope this information covers all your questions about CBM. Please do not hesitate to ask if there is any other information that you are seeking.
