JOB TITLE: General Assignment reporter, starting early May

THE
OPPORTUNITY
The Walkerton Herald-Times seeks an outgoing, dedicated, general
assignment reporter/photographer. This individual will be responsible for news
coverage, sports, photography, and special projects on a full-time (37.5
hour/week) basis. Responsibilities also include and overseeing/contributing to
page layout each week.
KEY
ACCOUNTABILITIES
·
Write tight news
stories, sports, and features to a weekly deadline
·
Have experience using
InDesign and photoshop
·
Maintain and update
our social media site
·
Take quality
photographs and adjust them for publication
·
Possess strong,
creative layout and design skills
·
Must be well-versed in
Canadian Libel law and Canadian Press Style
WHAT
WE’RE LOOKING FOR
·
Holds a journalism
diploma/degree and/or equivalent experience
·
Be familiar with CP
style, write clean and engaging copy
·
Have strong
interview skills
·
Be self-motivated
and reliable to work on own
·
Must be able to work
some evenings and weekends
·
Have a valid
driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle
·
Able to take
direction and meet deadlines on a consistent basis
·
Able to cover a
variety of beats
·
Possess solid people
skills
