Magazine/Web Reporter (Bloor & Ossington)
Do
you love writing and editing, meeting interesting people and
coordinating all types of editorial projects? We're looking for someone
to work this summer with big ideas and lots of energy. Shy desk fixtures
need not apply. Attitude is more important than aptitude, so if you've
got the personality, but need the experience, this is for you.
The position is full time, working out of our office in Toronto.
You
will be responsible for creating and assigning content and ensuring it
fits with our ideals for the web and magazine's vision, mandate and
editorial objective. You will ensure consistency of focus, tone and
content.
This role includes building
relationships with representatives from major industry associations and
attending conventions, trade shows and other events. You will also work
closely with our in-house production department and with advertising
sales representatives.
If you have a passion
for written communication, event planning or public speaking, along with
outstanding interpersonal skills, this could be the opportunity you've
been waiting for. Computer literacy such as Word and InDesign are
important, along with an excellent knowledge of the English language and
grammar. You must have a keen eye and a desire to make sure no mistake
goes uncorrected.
We offer a great working
environment and an excellent opportunity to gain experience. Part-time
or full-time work may be available after the summer.
Our company, Media Matters
Inc., is constantly expanding coverage of the automotive aftermarket
and related industries. We're always seeking the best of the best as we
broaden our offering across various platforms.
Our
publications and websites are at the top of the field, and we need
solid, dedicated team players to add to our roster as we expand into
other sectors. These sectors include but will not be limited to
mechanical automotive service, jobbers, wheels/tires, and the
towing/recovery industry.
Ideal Content Creators at Media Matters are not just writers but enthusiastic "buzz" generators who are comfortable with all aspects of media delivery. Finding and reporting stories is the mainstay, with the ability to package the content in compelling detail.
Media Matters
publishes among other properties, Collision Repair, Bodyworx
Professional, Collision Quebec, Canadian Auto Recycler and Canadian
Towing & Recovery. They are industry leading magazines, websites and
eZines. We offer an excellent team, integrity and a downtown office.
Plus we're a lot of fun and love winning.
To
apply, please send your resume, a maximum of two writing samples and a
brief cover note explaining why you're a perfect fit to the coordinates
below. We thank all those who apply, but regret that only those
candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
