Summer Student Opportunity – Ecommerce Copywriter
The Home Depot Canada is currently looking for a student to join our growing Online team to assist with migrating all content to our new website platform.  The Copywriter will be responsible for planning, creating, organizing, editing, and structuring content for the new platform including product information pages, brand & buying guides, interactive tools, and know-how articles.  This role will be responsible for ensuring the content is up to date, that it is optimized for search engines, and that it is written with a consistent tone for our customers.

Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities:
  • Perform project tasks such as content creation, gathering, formatting, optimizing for search and user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure that site content is user- focused and consistent in style, tone, format, and quality.
  • Ensure that site content is platform appropriate and relevant.
  • Implement new content initiatives and participate in the site redesign process.
  • Work with vendors, agencies or internal departments where necessary for project execution.
  • Obtain content approval as needed; make edits as necessary.
  • Other duties as required (including some more traditional editorial writing)
Experience / Knowledge Required:
  • Degree/diploma in progress in Marketing, Media or Journalism, preferred
  • Familiarity with search engine optimization writing techniques, and knowledge of online copywriting. Some technical knowledge of various web platforms would be an asset.
  • Mastery of the English language (grammar, usage, and spelling).
  • French writing and comprehension skills considered an asset.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Excellent Search Engine Optimization, web copywriting, editing, spelling and grammar skills.
  • Good oral communications skills required for working with vendors and partners.
  • Ability to manage projects and multiple tasks and meet tight communicated deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent PC/computer skills.
