Positions Available: Online News & Culture Content Writers
Hey Writers! We are looking for freelance contributors to join a newly launched ‘fast and short’ news and lifestyle website.
Fleek’d (fleekd.com) is based in Toronto and targets Gen Y readership across Canada and the U.S. Your talent will be tasked to research and write content assigned by the editorial team on a weekly or occasional basis. More experienced contributors may be asked to cover events or conduct interviews as required. Pitches will be welcomed and encouraged, so initiative and a “plugged in” relationship with pop culture and current events is highly valued.
Our editors are primarily looking for short, blog-style pieces (300-500 words) to satisfy a fast-paced, on-the-go readership, as well as longer feature assignments.
Interested writers should be:
- reliable, communicative and collaborative
- experienced in writing clear, concise, engaging content for web and/or print
- a trend spotter who is on the pulse of current pop culture, viral sensations, and news
- on the pulse of what matters to 18-35 year olds in North America
- active on social media and an avid consumer of online publications
- able to reach and engage young influencers with a relatable, smart and humorous narrative
- able to consistently meet short deadlines
Experience in SEO and CP style is an asset. Relevant education (journalism, professional writing) a plus.
Prior publication strongly preferred, though bloggers will be considered. Students welcome to apply!
