2011 Internship Program

Overview

The Toronto Argonauts Football Club is dedicated to providing a hands on learning experience to post-secondary students seeking learning opportunities in the professional sports and entertainment industry.

Internship Qualifications
While qualifications will vary with each department and specialty, all applicants are expected to meet the following criteria.

Must be currently enrolled in a publicly recognized post-secondary institution and be in good academic standing.
Must be available 9am – 5pm, 5 days a week plus evenings and weekends as required.
Must possess strong attention to detail and a commitment to service excellence.
Must possess a strong teamwork mentality and positive attitude.

Application Process
Applicants are to submit their resume and cover letters including their chosen area of interest by the deadline specified. Internships will commence in January, May and September.

Applications will be accepted by email only, to internships@argonauts.ca and must include the area of interest and targeted start date in the subject line of the email.

Online Marketing & Communications

As online marketing & social media grow in popularity, this individual will play a pivotal role in keeping the team relevant in the world of social communications.

Responsibilities: Film, edit and produce compelling video projects for argonauts.ca
Develop engaging editorial content for argonauts.ca Assist in production of weekly Argos media Game Notes Aid in various social media initiatives
Assist in online and in-game video production
Archive previous and newly acquired video footage
Perform any other duties as assigned.
Represent the Toronto Argonauts in a proud and professional manner.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Job Qualifications
Effective time management
Ability to multi-task
Ability and willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.
Previous video camera training
Effective interviewing skills
Strong ability to develop written stories
Previous experience with Final Cut Pro and/or Avid Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Flexible work schedule
Positive attitude

Communications

This individual will take on the day-to-day life of the communications department, assisting with media requests and press conferences, as well as media tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities
Collect, assemble and monitor daily media coverage on the team.
Research projects as assigned (e.g. statistical player and team data).
Media outreach initiatives.
Ensure media lists are current and up to date.
Managing photo archives.
Write and research media releases.
Assist in assembling training camp guides, media guide, game notes and other media information.
Assist in tracking and forwarding social media efforts.
Assist in preparation and execution of media events.
Assist with game day execution, duties as assigned.
Writing and researching some Argonauts.ca web content.
Other projects as assigned.
