dandyhorse - honorarium

dandyhorse magazine is looking for a managing editor.

This is a part-time positions of approximately 10-15 hours per week (usually done on a set 2-3 days), working from home for a 4-month term. With optional monthly team meetings. Deadline for application: October 30, 2013 at 5 p.m. The stipend is $200.

About you: You have some writing/blogging/editing experience, you like bikes and you are willing to learn. You have demonstrated good attention to detail. The ideal candidate would also have another job, and have experience working two part-time jobs at the same time.

The managing editor will produce approximately 1-2 self-generated stories per month (in addition to a Bike Spotting session every month or so.) You will also copy edit and upload approximately 1 story per week produced by other contributors. (Materials provided.) We work in a simple WordPress CMS.

Leads, story ideas, interview contacts, writer, photographer and illustrator contacts for self-generated stories also provided. Pitches ALWAYS welcome!

Opportunity to work on hard copy issues of the magazine (as editor, contributor or manager) are also available to qualified web editors.

Break it down: Approximately 3-4 hrs a day  @ 2-3 days a week for 4 months. Stipend $200.

You will gain solid experience copyediting and web editing, gathering and producing stories for a magazine in both online and print formats. Training, contacts and style guides are provided. New dandy eds are also invited to participate in marketing campaigns and events for the magazine, as well as design meetings for hard copy issues. You will also be happily helping to produce more positive bike culture!

Other duties:
NEWSLETTER production– dandyCOMMUTE  contest promotion – dandyARCHIVE uploads and cataloguing – SOCIAL MEDIA dissemination.
