dandyhorse magazine is
looking for a new web editor.
It is a part-time position of
approximately 8 hours per week, working from home, for a $300 monthly stipend. Deadline
for application: Oct. 30
About you:
You have some writing/blogging experience, you like bikes and you have either
some copy editing experience or you are willing to learn and have good
attention to detail. Training and style guide are provided. The ideal candidate
would also have another job, and have experience working two part-time jobs at
the same time, and like to have fun when not working on bike stuff and
blogging.
The web editor will produce approximately
2-3 self-generated stories [web editor writes and provides image] per month PLUS
copy editing and uploading approximately 8-10 additional stories per month,
which will be provided by other contributors that the web editor will
communicate with. Leads, story ideas, interview contacts, writer and
photographer contacts provided. Pitches welcome! When needed we use the
dandyARCHIVE to post some of our many awesome back issue stories. (Materials
provided.) The web editor also executes the majority of social media for the
dandyBLOG.
Break it down: Approximately
2-3 hrs a day @ 3 days a week (flexible
time/day but preference for someone who can work: m, w, f with a preference for
in the late morning on Monday and early afternoon Friday and either late
morning or afternoon on Wed.) dandyhorse magazine
is offering 300$ / month for a 2 month contract with for sure possibility for extensions.
First extension – another 2 months – also, traditionally keen web editors get
first opportunity to become assistant editor on the Spring 2013 issue.
Additional duties: Monthly newsletter. This is a simple aggregate of fave/top 3 dandy
stories – links - of the month + one partner/external story – a ‘round up’. We
have subscribers eagerly awaiting their FIRST monthly dandy newsletter!) To be
approved for circulation during monthly meeting with publisher. (A minimum of
one, two-hour meeting or two, one-hour meetings month with the publisher/editor
in chief required in addition.)
Other: Monthly
report of Google and social media analytics. Hopefully you have a camera. We
have a camera and good photographers too so it’s okay if you don’t but best if
you do. We use WordPress CMS. It is easy. Participate in at least one Bike Spotting
sessions per month too dandyhorsemagazine.com/bikespotting
dandyhorse magazine is Canada’s premier arts and
