Job Title: Journalism Intern
Rate of pay: To be determined, based on experience.
Expected hours per week: based on student’s availability. Minimum 20 hours per week desired.
About Institute for Social Design:
Institute for Social Design represents thought leaders, educators, theorists, designers and consultants who are devoted to advancing and enhancing the human condition by design. Our Subject Matter Experts provide programs that help individuals, organizations, teams, communities and cultures learn deeper insights and broader skill sets to optimize performance and secure sustainable success.
Duties of the job:
We are seeking writing support for several projects including:
- a book (which will also be supported by a professional writer)
- website content
- collateral materials
- program content (course curriculum, presentation content)
- blogs and social media and more.
Toward writing all of the above, our goal is to hold regular sessions – bi-weekly, for example – during which we articulate insights, theories, concepts, skills and techniques as a small group attended by a professional writer, ISD (Institute for Social Design) team, executives and academics. We will tape the sessions. The session tapes need to be transcribed by the writing intern and presented internally for review. The notes will be shared with a professional writer and the intern will work with the writer and ISD’s CEO to help translate ideas into written offerings. Research may also be needed as a way to create factual background or contextual meaning for various ideas. Such research would need to be tracked and well noted for author credit in any published materials.
Skills and experience expected of a successful candidate:
The candidate should have a passion for writing and a knack for capturing concepts in a clear and engaging manner. We will share various insights, concepts, theories and skills; which need to be translated into written word in a way that flows. Projects will be guided by the CEO and a professional writer. This is a great opportunity to gain experience and advance skills.
