We would like to hear from you if you are interested in an opportunity to learn and develop external communications and editorial skills.

The Informer is an eight page, 4-colour publication that carries articles and pictures related to the activities of the Ontario Association of Former Parliamentarians. The Association is a non-partisan body comprised of former MPP’s from all three political parties. It is engaged in a variety of advocacy and education programs and it is affiliated with similar groups representing former federal MP’s, other provincial MLA’s, US Member of Congress and Members of the European Parliament.

Working with the Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be required to write articles outlining new developments undertaken by the association and its affiliated organizations. Typically, the Board would supply a précis of the information on each topic and the Editor will be required to expand the information supplied into a thoughtful, articulate and engaging article.

In addition to writing duties, the Editor will be responsible for:

- composing the newsletter (incorporating other submissions and photos)

- preparing a digital version of the newsletter

- posting the newsletter to the Association website

- working with the publisher to ensure the timely and accurate publication of the hard-copy version of the newsletter.

- providing additional website copy, as required.

Required Skills: We are looking for an intern with excellent writing and communications skills. We want someone who is articulate, enthusiastic, motivated, and capable of meeting deadlines. You will be able to work well with the Association Board and capable of searching out stories of interest to the newsletter audience.

Additional Skills: Working knowledge of, and access to, publishing software (Publisher or similar) and, given the nature of the articles, an interest in public affairs and politics would be an asset.
