Founded in 1999, Pound magazine is Canada’s oldest hip-hop magazine. (Not that that’s saying much and we’d never sleep on our laurels, but it’s worth mentioning). During those eleven years, the magazine earned a reputation for its outspoken politics, unique aesthetic and unforgiving criticism. Yup, we’re haters.
But what’s more relevant to you is our newest venture: www.poundmag.com. Oh, yay! The Internets!
What we’re looking for is editorial interns to do real meaningful work: researching and writing and interviewing famous rap stars. No coffee making for you!
More specifically, you are knowledgeable about: rap music and hip-hop culture, politics, world issues and pop culture.
And you can: write, research and edit.
And you know how to use: blog editing programs and all the other super obvious software (Word, etc.). It’d be super great if you also know how to use InDesign and Photoshop.
Hours: 2-3 days per week (depending on your availability)
Compensation: None at first. But you’ll get some free stuff.
Start date: Today.
End date: To be determined.
