BitFeast Media Searching for Talented Freelance Journalists
Are you interested in Canada’s digital media industry? Do you want to polish your craft, grow your fan base and generate part-time income while working for an innovative start-up company? How about managing your own schedule and working on your own terms, even if that means working in your underwear* at two in the morning? Do you want to write for a news outlet that encourages a distinct voice and encourages you to supercharge your writing with your unique personality?
If so, we may have an opportunity for you.
Seeking Freelance Correspondents
- Journalism students are encouraged to apply.
- Paid and unpaid positions are available.
- Remuneration: Paid positions will receive $50 to $250 per week, depending on frequency and complexity of contributions.
- Time Commitment: 3 to 10 hours per week.
- Flexible Hours: Correspondents will manage their own schedules but may have 12 to 24-hour deadlines in certain cases.
- Duties: Correspondents will research and write short articles on assigned topics that surround the Canadian digital media industry. Opportunities will exist to pitch story ideas.
- Required Skills and Experience: Ideal candidates have a crisp and straightforward writing style, an ability to distil the complex in the fewest words possible. That said, we are looking for writers with personality. (We’ll stop short of using the word “moxy,” but we came close.) In addition, we will be piqued by applicants with a proven interest and/or background in online media and an active social media following. Any experience covering business news is an asset, as are proven interview skills.
- Technical Skills Required: Applicants should know their way around basic web publishing applications (mainly WordPress and YouTube) and be comfortable using leading social media tools.
- Application Deadline: December 31st, 2010.
