The National Post

Summer 2015

The National Post is recruiting young journalists to work in its newsroom in Toronto next May through August.

All positions are general assignment with a digital focus, meaning you will have the opportunity to contribute to news, business, arts, sports and comment. These are paid positions reporting to the Deputy Editor.

The demands of the job require you to write quickly and cleanly to tight deadlines and stay on top of breaking stories. You must be fluent in Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and other social media as a way of both telling and discovering stories that will receive a high level of interest from Post readers. You should be proficient in Wordpress, Photoshop and basic audio-visual software, as well as experience with a content management system.

Above all, you should be a self-starter with ideas for stories appropriate to the National Post.

If you are invited to an interview for a summer job at the National Post, please come ready to pitch a couple of Post-appropriate stories.

Also advantageous to you:

• experience with data journalism;
• an ability to speak and read French;
• a driver’s licence (but not necessarily a car);
• a previous internship or job at a daily newspaper.

To apply, email your cover letter, resume and four clippings demonstrating the range of your writing to:
