The Position
This is an unpaid 4- month position.  The successful candidate will be reimbursed $20.00 per day to cover travel and other expenses.

Reporting directly to the Product Manager, the Volunteer Marketing Coordinator will support the speaker recruitment process, by researching and developing speaker prospects for Toronto Region Board of Trade event series and perform other marketing duties as required.  This position requires the ability to research new industry topics, and continuously be on the lookout for potential new speakers and partners. Ultimately, the relationships the incumbent builds with speakers and other industry contacts play a key role in developing new ideas and establishing a good reputation for Toronto Region Board of Trade. 

Responsibilities
·         Quickly learn about a variety of industries (including Healthcare, Technology, Energy, Financial, Innovation and Infrastructure) and their value chain
·         Build speaker pipeline, based on research, and accurately identify the target audience for the event, aligning speaker with that audience
·         Develop messaging for marketing flyers and speaker invite letters
·         Obtain the maximum marketing potential for an event: deadlines must be met
·         Communicate all necessary information to other members of the Marketing & Communications team to maximize the revenue and success any one event can achieve
·         Collaborate closely with other Toronto Region Board of Trade departments including Sales, Events, Communications and Public Affairs

Qualifications
·         Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program with a focus on Marketing,  Journalism, Media Relations or equivalent
·         Ideally some work experience in a B2B marketing environment
  • Strong project management skills - ability to drive toward results in a systematic way
  • Computer (MS Office) skills with an emphasis on Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • A keen interest and aptitude for news and current affairs
