The Scope at Ryerson


The Scope at Ryerson is accepting applications for two 8-week contracted student positions. Applicants must be full-time students.
The Scope at Ryerson is a new multi-media hub for students to showcase their projects. Launching in September, the new site will feature internet radio, podcasts, featured videos and unique applications for citizen journalism, sports and local music. The Scope at Ryerson will spend this summer aggregating audio, visual and written content from the Ryerson Campus and from the wider community.

Production and Live Events Coordinator: Summer position
The Scope at Ryerson is hiring a summer student position to coordinate and produce coverage of live events on campus and in the community. Working with the Program Director and Volunteer Coordinator, the Live Events Coordinator will organize, plan and execute event coverage and may supervise a small team of volunteers.
To apply for this position, you must be:
(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
(b) registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
(c) intending to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
(d) a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
(e) a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration

Qualifications:
-Previous experience as a volunteer or employee in community media or other not-for-profit environments.
-Some media production experience familiarity with audio editing (Audition/Pro tools or comparable programs) and shoutcast or icecast or other simulcast programs.
-Excellent cross-cultural communication skills.
-Comfortable using social media.
-Outgoing, friendly and reliable.

TERMS: 30 hours per week at $12.00 p/hour. This 8 week contract is to commence in June 24th, 2013 and ends on August 16th, 2013.

Local Music Coordinator: Summer position
The Scope at Ryerson is hiring a summer student position to organize and grow our music library and reach out to musicians at Ryerson and in the community. Working with the Program Director and Volunteer Coordinator, the Local Music Coordinator will help digitize our music library and engage with the local music community. 
To apply for this position, you must be:
(a) between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
(b) registered as a full-time student during the preceding academic year;
(c) intending to return to school on a full-time basis during the next academic year;
(d) a student in a secondary, post-secondary, CEGEP (Quebec only), vocational or technical program;
