Web intern – ParentsCanada and Today’s Bride (3-months, full-time)
Reports to: Online content manager
Want to research and write about the latest beauty tips and wedding trends for brides? How about write about the latest parenting strategies to take care of your kids?
Gain journalism experience and good clippings by interning at ParentsCanada and Today’s Bride websites. You’ll be given the chance to pitch ideas and tell stories in different mediums. It’s also an exciting time for ParentsCanada with the relaunch of our new website on the horizon.
Please mention in your application if you have a preference to work for one magazine over another, but you’ll likely be writing for both. There will be an honorarium offered at the end of the internship.
Major responsibilities include:
- Research and interview sources for web stories a part of online editorial packages
- Pitch story ideas to the web and print teams
- Write regular Parenting news hits for the web
- Assist in managing social media for both websites
- Help with the launch of the new ParentsCanada website
- Other administrative duties as needed
Qualifications and requirements:
- Experience in either online publishing and/or editorial
- Candidates working towards a journalism degree is ideal, but not required
- Knowledge of web trends and technologies in the new media sector
- Highly organized and able to multi-task
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Quick and adaptable learner
- Experience including Dreamweaver, HTML, Photoshop, other Content Management Systems, Mac and PC proficiency, would be an asset
