DigitalJournal.com, an online social news site, is accepting applications for a volunteer writing/copy-editing position that runs for 3 months starting in July. This is a part-time position with flexible hours and is best suited for an individual looking to gain experience in a fast-paced new media/social media newsroom.

Volunteers are involved in many aspects of the production of a popular news media website. They receive practical experience in the use of online publishing software and play an active role in editing articles posted on DigitalJournal.com. The volunteer will not only copy-edit articles and assist users on the website but is also encouraged to generate and complete editorial assignments.

This position will provide flexible working hours, including the opportunity to occasionally work from home. Preferred hours are post-5 p.m. on weeknights and during the day on weekends.

Applicant must be based in Toronto or surrounding area and have access to high-speed Internet. Applicants should have excellent oral and written communication skills, should be familiar with CP style and photo-editing software, be engaged social media users through Facebook and Twitter, and fanatically attentive to detail.
