Brunswick News is Atlantic Canada's most dynamic media group and
provides a comprehensive package of news to readers throughout New Brunswick
every day. Our ever-growing network of media outlets includes three daily
newspapers, more than a dozen weekly newspapers, several magazines,
an innovative online product and an online recruitment site. Our journalists,
cartoonists and photographers have captured more than 150 awards from the
prestigious Atlantic Journalism Awards, which recognize journalistic excellence
in the region.
We look for reporters with a keen sense for news, an eagerness to
break stories and a clean, clear writing style. Our reporters quickly immerse
themselves in assignments, thoroughly researching and reporting news and
feature stories to deadlines from minutes to days away. They are enterprising
and dig up stories on their own. We are seeking dynamic and assertive team
players who are equally at ease working independently.
Qualifications:
- University or college-level studies in journalism or a related education.
- Previous newsroom experience, although preferred, is not necessary.
- A clean, clear writing style and a demonstrated ability to produce detailed, accurate work under very tight deadlines.
- Highly developed organizational skills -- able to multi-task, particularly in high-stress situations.
- Sound knowledge of Canadian Press style.
- An excellent command of the English language; fluency in spoken and written French would be a definite asset.
- The ability to shoot compelling photo and video.
- A sound understanding of media law.
- A basic knowledge of social media.
- A valid driver's license. For some internships, access to a reliable vehicle is required.
