a talented and driven editorial assistant. This is an ideal position for
journalism school graduates or students.
Description:
Specific duties will be assigned based on
experience, but potential duties include editing and writing content;
assigning stories; publishing to social media
channels; analyzing data to look for trends and content
patterns; and working with management to perform editorial tasks that help
a digital newsroom operate.
Hours: Part-time (minimum 20 hours/weekly)
Payment: Remuneration based on experience
Qualifications:
- Excellent oral and written English
communications. Familiar with CP style and basic understanding of Canadian
libel law
- Experience writing and editing news articles on
any topic; understands how to write engaging headlines
- Experienced with hyperlinking and social media
- Understanding of search engine optimization and
desire to understand the data behind content and what drives engagement are
huge assets
- Extremely organized
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while
managing multiple projects
- Passionate about breaking news and familiar with
news stories affecting countries around the world
- Post-secondary training in journalism or digital
media an asset
- Access to, and familiarity with photo-editing
software a major asset

- Must live in GTA or surrounding area
- Must have home access to high-speed Internet
- Availability on weekends and evenings when necessary
